Somewhere between the roots of old trees and the pages of a well-loved storybook, there is a place called Candy Cap Woods.
It is home to strange little creatures, wandering adventurers, quiet scholars, mischievous spirits, and all manner of residents who have found their way out of imagination and into the world—one stitch at a time.
Candy Cap Woods is a collection of one-of-a-kind, handmade art dolls and curious creations. At the heart of the collection are poseable crochet residents, each individually designed and freehanded with their own removable clothing, tiny accessories, and carefully considered details.
No two residents are exactly alike, and many begin without a pattern at all, growing stitch by stitch into characters with personalities and stories of their own.

About the Archivist
Hello! I’m Elliot, the artist, archivist, and occasional woodland correspondent behind Candy Cap Woods.
My work lives somewhere between fiber art, character design, storytelling, and play. I have always loved the small details that make fictional worlds feel real: the contents of a character’s pockets, the clothes they choose to wear, the objects they carry, and all the quiet clues that suggest a life continuing beyond the edge of the story.
Through crochet and mixed-media techniques, I create characters you can hold in your hands.
Each resident is made slowly and individually, from their poseable crocheted body to their freehanded hair, removable clothing, and miniature belongings. Depending on who wanders out of the Woods, I may incorporate embroidery, beads, wire, specialty yarns, found materials, or other techniques to bring their design to life.
I am especially interested in creating characters who feel like they have already lived a little before you meet them—and who might have many more adventures after they leave my hands.
Every Stitch Has A Story
Candy Cap Woods began with a love of making things, but it has grown into something larger: an ever-expanding world populated by creatures and characters who refuse to remain only ideas.
Some residents are entirely original. Others are created through custom commissions, bringing a client’s character, loved one, or imagined companion into the Woods. Alongside the residents, you may also discover journals, writing tools, tiny creatures, and other curious objects collected from around the forest.
The Archive exists to keep track of it all.
Here, you can explore records of previously adopted residents, meet seasonal visitors, read field notes from the Woods, and perhaps discover someone waiting to come home with you.
Made For Real Bodies, and Real Stories
The worlds we imagine should have room for all of us.
Whenever possible, I welcome opportunities to create residents with the details that make people and characters themselves—including mobility aids, hearing aids, glasses, scars, different body types, and other meaningful features. These details are not afterthoughts or accessories to a person’s existence. They are part of the stories we carry.
Custom work is always approached collaboratively, with care for the character and
person being represented.
A Note From the Archivist
Candy Cap Woods is, above all, an invitation to remain curious.
To take small things seriously. To imagine lives for strange little creatures. To believe that handmade objects can carry stories, that play does not belong only to children, and that there is still room in the world for things made slowly, imperfectly, and with care.
