As a talented witch, Mina’s family expected her to go on to a high-caliber magical university and a promising career as a potion master. But Mina wasn’t the academic they wanted her to be. With her dyslexia and a history of bullying for her alopecia, she found her passion in the Candy Cap Woods instead of in an academic study.
 
Mina fell in love with the mushrooms that sprout in the woods. She became their caretaker, and she helped ensure the continuation of the magical species of mycelium by raising the spores until they reached maturity and could be replanted elsewhere. Before her efforts, the mycelium was nearly extinct, and most spores never made it past infancy, but she’s single-handedly saved the species. It’s an incredible achievement, and she proved to her family that she didn’t need a fancy degree to change the world. Maybe they don’t see it yet, but Mina finally feels secure in her skin, and we couldn’t be prouder.
